The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe

The Rolls Royce Phantom of this generation, came out in 2004 and was originally just a Sedan. The convertible version of the Sedan came out in 2008, and Rolls Royce referred to it as the “Phantom Drophead Coupe”. The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is the most luxurious convertible anyone can buy.

The Phantom Drophead Coupe has a 6.75 L V12 engine that can produce 450 hp. When this car first came out, the base price for a new one was $470,000. This car has many interesting features that make it unique. A Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe is massive in size compared to other cars. This car is 221 inches long and is considered big compared to other two door cars.

The doors of the this car are rear hinged. Because of this, when you sit down in the car and try to reach for the doors to close them, they might be too far. Rolls Royce thought of that happening, and added a button that closes the doors for you so that you don’t have to reach across and make yourself uncomfortable.

Although the base price for this car, brand new, was $470,000 it has surprisingly lost a lot of value. As with most Rolls Royce’s, they have the recurring  trait of not being able to hold onto their value very well. A used 2015 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe can cost as low as $200,000. The theory behind this is that Rolls Royce has never been the type of car company to make limited edition models or put a limit on how many cars they make. For example, the reason why Ferrari’s hold onto their value is because even though it may not be a limited edition car, it is still produced in very few numbers of only a couple thousand a year. What also causes problems with this is how Rolls Royce likes to hold onto their car models and does not introduce new ones very often. Rolls Royce has been around for over 100 years and has only been able to make eight different car models making them very common because there really is no other option available.

This car is very luxurious with all the different buttons it has. One cool button is the one that raises and lowers the Rolls Royce hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstacy. When you hit the down arrow of this button, the hood ornament goes down into the hood. When you want to put it back up for display, you simply press the arrow pointing up.

The Phantom Drophead Coupe has this name for a certain reason. According to Rolls Royce, “Drophead” means convertible, making that the reason it is called a drophead. This car is also called a coupe because even though a coupe does not have a soft-top, like a convertible, this car is extremely quiet, making that the reason it is called a drophead coupe.

This car is one of the finest cars on the road and will often make you feel like the king of the world. This Rolls Royce is extremely luxurious and comfortable, making you truly feel like a king on the road.
