The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is a new edition of the Chiron that has never been done before with the Bugatti lineup. Unlike other Bugattis, the Chiron Pur Sport does not focus on top speed, straight line world records, rather it focuses on insane track performance. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is powered by a powerful W16 engine that produces slightly over 1,500hp, a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 218mph. Here’s what makes the Pur Sport different from the regular Chiron.
This Chiron, kind of like the Veyron has separate editions of the car. This basically makes for more sales and helps make the separate Chiron models worth a little bit more. These models are also more limited and harder to get. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is limited to only 60 available units for the entire world, whereas the standard Chiron is limited to 500 units. Also, the price increases as the production numbers decrease. They start at $3,555,000, which is more than half a million more dollars than the standard.
Bugatti has become extremely famous for setting top speed records that were thought never possible before. For example, they set the record with the Veyron, then came a few years later and broke that record over and over and over again. However, Bugatti’s cars are more designed for straight lines and tend to perform quite poorly. Most supercar and hypercar makers try and set records at the Nurburgring, but Bugatti has never set one. Brands that goe about 70mph slower in speed are setting records more easily, and that was a big problem. Their reputation would be ruined or endangered. Bugatti has tried their hardest in order to maintain their reputation, and is famous for doing a track day on the Nurburgring and never releasing the time they got with the Veyron, so naturally reporters believed that the time was too embarrassing for them to release. Since then, the Pur Sport has been released, and it is showing that Bugatti really can do well on the track.
The Pur Sport features a body almost completely made of ultra lightweight carbon fiber, and has even taken off entire mechanisms to make the car as light as possible. For example, the entire system for the wing on the standard Chiron was removed. This saves the car hundreds of pounds in excess weight, and instead, Bugatti decided to place a fixed wing on the back. While the car is aggressive and not meant to be a luxury car, it is street legal, and still features a very similar interior to the more luxurious Chiron.
The Bugatti Chiron is the ultimate idea of what a track car should be. As the name suggests, it is the purest Bugatti to ever be made. Its raw power has fully unleashed what a Bugatti can actually do. The Chiron Pur Sport has still not gotten redemption at the Nurburgring, but looking at the numbers, it will make for a fantastic car.
