The Mercedes 190SL has been featured on this channel before, just indirectly. For all those who have followed since the beginning, you have heard of the 300SL, the $2.2M car. From this legacy came many other great cars, like the 190SL. This is the supposed little brother, and in my opinion, the most valuable or profitable car to be seen on the market in quite a few years. This is the 190SL.
Aside from its timeless design, it was actually built to be a daily drivable car. Since being called the little brother of the 300SL, it is almost exactly the same. The interior is almost exactly the same, and so is the exterior except for the doors. Yep, the 190SL missed out on those famous gullwing doors. The reason why they are so similar is because they are essentially the same car. In today’s words, the 300SL was the race car version that was meant to be powerful and a track car. So why is it so valuable?
The value is seen in what it is, and its price. Each one of these costs within the range of $100,000-$300,000 which is just insane. About ten years ago, the 300SL was worth $100,000, and based on that price, the 190SL is just following in its footsteps, just slower. What it is, is what’s most shocking. It’s a 300SL, just without the doors. Just to think that you can have a $2.2 million car for the price is just overwhelming.
It’s hard to tell, but based on quite a few hours of research, I think I have an idea of what it will be worth. So, with the 300SL, it did not take very long to get to where it is now, also, this car is also overshadowed, and not as unique meaning that it probably will not rise in value to the extent of the 300SL. Considering all this, I can predict that within the span of 10 years, it will be worth in the range of $800,000 to maybe even $1,000,000. If you can afford this car, it is one of the best things to buy right now.
The 190SL should also be considered because it is known to be one of the most reliable classic cars. The guess for the potential value may seem a bit extravagant, but its not. Mercedes all depreciate terribly fast, and for it to be worth more than what it sold for is an immediate green flag. Do yourself a favor, and just buy the car!
