When Audi came out with the Audi R8 in 2008, they were very unpopular and struggled to get sales that would bring in profit to the company. The Audi R8 changed that all, and brought upon a new strong point to Audi’s history. The Audi R8 was labeled as the most affordable supercar, at $130,000, that still provided all the joys of a $400,000 Lamborghini Aventador (The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4). This car came with a slightly weaker V10 engine than the Lamborghini Huracan, but still came with an impressive 611hp and a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 205mph.
The Audi R8 was the best money could buy within a considerable budget, and many things that a real supercar contains are found in this cheaper car. One main thing that brought a lot of attention to this car was the glass panel that displays the engine. This feature was huge because many people only thought, that the only way to get this on a car, was to pay at least $300,000 for an Italian made sports car.
Secondly, this car does sound like a much more exotic car. The exhaust pipes are really wide and allow the car to sound loud. It will also do a lot of crackles and pops that make your driving experience more lively.
Also, this car does not attract a lot of attention. Although the point of this car is not to be a common car, it will bring the least amount of attention which can be good or bad depending on how you view it. This is a good option if you are the type of person who does not like a lot of attention and want a fun car. You won’t have people asking you questions or stopping you to ask questions, which may be a bit awkward at times. The bad part of this is that if you are the type to show off but can not afford something more expensive, then you won’t get the attention you desire. For example from a normal car fan’s view point, if he sees an Audi R8 next to a Ferrari, his eyes will divert from the Audi and go to the Ferrari because it is a better known car brand.
Lastly, this car was designed to be revolved around the driver, so sorry passengers, but you don’t get that much from where you’ll be sitting. The interior design of this car is so driver based that even the trim of the dashboard points towards you. The middle of the car, where the infotainment system usually is, is located in the actual gage cluster. This design was incorporated so that you can do everything and still be focused on the road ahead of you. Some other things in there is the control of Bluetooth, music, and navigation system. And well, if the passenger ever wanted to change the radio, he can’t. The only thing the passenger gets to play with are the air conditioning systems which lie in the center of the car.
This car is amazing and is considerably more affordable than most other sports cars. The Audi R8 is still impressive, statistically speaking, and has even been used in famous movies such as Iron Man. So, if multi-billionaire Tony Stark is driving one, then it must mean that it is still as fun to drive as any other exotic car.
