The Chevy Corvette ZR1 is Chevrolet’s most powerful car. This car is also the most powerful Corvette in history, producing over 700hp and a 0-60 time of 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of 211mph. This edition of the Corvette is stronger and more powerful than most Lamborghinis, only a bit slower due to its weight. This sports car is also quite considerable compared to supercars with the same power, at a starting price of about $130,000. The Corvette ZR1 comes with lots of cool features and options, but here are just a few of them.
The Wing: This car came with two options for spoilers. The race focused one, and the normal one. The race focused wing gives the car more down force, while the normal one has more of a subtle look because it is smaller. Chevrolet has really made the wing the focus of the car because this car has not one, but two wings. The way the body frame is made up, it already has an extremely small wing, and then they attach the bigger wing on top of it, so you basically have more downforce.
The hood is a disappointment: In most supercars, and even average cars, the car designers try to make the front look aggressive without eliminating any driver discomforts. Of the many things, is the random bulge that sits in the center of the hood. This bulge is part of your engine that just sticks out, meaning that Chevrolet did not know how to fit an engine in the car. On top of this, the bulge impedes driver visibility. The bulge is so big, that you can’t actually see part of the round clearance ahead of you, and this is bad because you could dent your really low car on accident.
Some statistics: This gas guzzling beast ran through a full tank of gas at its top speed in just 15 minutes! Also, it has set numerous track records partly due to the new techniques Chevrolet has adopted, including the carbon fiber. In past models of the Corvette, they have used carbon fiber, but not a lot of it. Well, this edition of the Corvette has the most carbon fiber any Corvette has ever had!
This car is an impressive and fun car, but sadly it will never be a collectors car or worth anything more than what it is now due to depreciation. This car was not produced in limited numbers, and thousands of people bought them, making them somewhat common to the point of extreme depreciation rates, some losing up $60,000 in value in just three years. Today you can find a Chevy Corvette for right around $70,000 if used. This car has hit a new milestone for Chevrolet, and thousands of car enthusiasts can’t wait to see what’s next!
